My dad is a big fan of Jimmy Buffett and the island life, so my mom asked me to frame this print for him for a Christmas gift. The wood is [spalted]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spalting) white oak. Rather than spend money on a full quart of purple stain than would go completely unused after this frame was completed, I instead just purchased a small tube of acrylic purple paint (which was available in many more colors) that I rubbed into the wood which seemed to work pretty well and led to far less waste.
